UNCORRECTED TRANSCRIPT

0:00:01 - (Chris): 90 miles from Needles, the Desert Protection Podcast is made possible by listeners just like you. If you want to help us out, you can go to 90 miles from needles.com donate or text needles to 53555.

0:00:21 - (Joe Geoffrey): Think the deserts are barren wastelands in it's time for 90 miles from Neil's the Desert Protection Podcast.

0:00:46 - (Chris): Hey y'all, this is Chris. As you may have noticed, we did not have an episode last week and this is what you get instead of an episode this week. In part because I've had a really bad cold and though I'm feeling quite fine other than coughing, doing something that requires several hours of talking when you have a persistent cough is not well advised. And while most episodes are somewhere between half an hour and an hour long, I generally have to talk for three to four times that amount of time just to get all the false starts out of my system.

0:01:27 - (Chris): And this is not the week for me to do that. I expect to be back next week. We have a couple of good episodes we're working on. The next one is the much awaited Other Podcasts episode, in which we'll give you little features of other podcasts that are related to what we do that we enjoy and recommend to you. I can give you a little preview of that by mentioning because I don't want to wait a week to turn you onto this if you haven't heard of them.

0:01:56 - (Chris): But the Border Chronicle with Todd Miller and Melissa Delbosque is absolutely irreplaceable coverage of the border and migration and the border industrial complex, and it's just going to get more relevant as the Trump administration goes through the next four years of tail chasing and victimizing and internecine squabbles and the daily illegal subversion of democracy. So check out Border Chronicle. A little bit of a preview.

0:02:26 - (Chris): Two other things I want you to know about. One is that we have redesigned the podcast website, which had not been making me happy with the way it looked, but now it does make me happy. Go check it out. There are still a few bugs in the system that I'm tracking down. I don't need to talk to do that. I can do it While I'm coughing 90 miles from needles.com you can sign up for our email newsletter there to remind you when new episodes come out.

0:02:54 - (Chris): Just go to 90miles from needles.com newsletter and you'll be able to sign up and see previous issues of the newsletter as well. And lastly, if you're listening to this On February 11th Tuesday, early in the morning tomorrow as I record this. I'm going to be dropping my dog Hart off for some long awaited cancer surgery. Now I will confess I'm not the praying type, but if you could spare a thought for my little 11 or 12 year old pit bull tomorrow, that would be so much appreciated. I do think that she's going to be just fine, but I worry that kind of dead. Anyway, this is take number two and my voice is already coming out of a very sore throat. So I'm going to try and make this take the last one. And I will see you next week at the next watering hole.

0:03:50 - (Chris): Bye now.

0:03:58 - (B): 90 miles from Needles is a production of the Desert Advocacy Media Network.
